Miami Man Pleads Guilty to Threatening U.S. Officials Rubio and Noem

Jon Christopher Enriquez, a 47‑year‑old resident of Miami, entered a guilty plea in the U.S. Southern District of Florida to three counts of transmitting threats through interstate communications. On May 27 he used the social‑media platform X to post three public messages that threatened the execution of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Kristi Noem, even specifying the times of the alleged executions.

Federal prosecutors said the threats are not protected speech and constitute a serious federal crime. Enriquez faces a maximum sentence of five years per count, up to 15 years in total, with sentencing to be determined. The investigation was conducted by the Diplomatic Security Service with assistance from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Miami Police Department, and the Miami‑Dade Sheriff’s Office.
