Miami Marlins considering offers for Otto Lopez and Xavier Edwards
The Miami Marlins are reportedly willing to listen to trade offers for infielders Otto Lopez and Xavier Edwards if the return is significant. While the team is not actively shopping the duo, neither player is considered untouchable by management.
Otto Lopez is coming off a career-best season, posting a .305 batting average, 11 home runs, and 34 stolen bases. His defensive performance at shortstop was also highly rated, contributing to a 6.1 bWAR. Both Lopez and Edwards are approaching salary arbitration, making them valuable assets due to their team control through 2029.
Prior to the August trade deadline, several teams, including the Boston Red Sox, expressed interest in Lopez. Marlins president of baseball operations Peter Bendix has indicated that any potential deal would require elite prospects in exchange.
