Miami Police arrest armed man after SWAT standoff in Edgewater

A heavy police operation in the Edgewater neighborhood of Miami concluded with the arrest of an armed man on Monday morning. The incident began around 7:34 a.m. following reports of gunfire.

In response to the threat, the Miami Police Department deployed SWAT teams and negotiators, while Miami Fire Rescue personnel assisted in securing the area. Authorities cordoned off the intersection of NE 7th Avenue and NE 24th Street, instructing nearby residents to shelter in place as armored vehicles and tactical units surrounded an apartment building.

After several hours of negotiation, police successfully took the suspect into custody. No serious injuries were reported during the standoff. Authorities have since cleared the area and restored traffic, though an investigation remains open to determine the suspect's motives.
