Miami teenager apprehends suspected jewelry thief in Brickell
A 17-year-old bystander successfully apprehended a suspected jewelry thief in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami on Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 6:00 PM when a woman was approached by 21-year-old Yağız Doğan, who allegedly expressed interest in purchasing her bracelets.
According to police reports, the woman removed the jewelry to show the suspect, at which point Doğan allegedly fled with the items. The teenager chased the suspect and managed to restrain him until Miami Police arrived, despite being sprayed with pepper spray during the struggle. Officers recovered the stolen bracelets inside Doğan's bag.
Doğan faces charges of third-degree grand theft and assault. He is also linked to a previous incident in July involving the alleged theft of a diamond ring. Following a bail hearing, Doğan was released after posting a $1,100 bond but remains subject to an ankle monitor.
