Miaoli County hosts singles matchmaking event to support marriage and fertility

The Miaoli County Government hosted a singles matchmaking event titled ‘Love Miaoli, Date to Happiness’ in Gongguan Township on October 18. The event featured pottery-making experiences and Hakka cuisine to facilitate natural interaction among participants. The initiative successfully resulted in 16 couples being matched, representing a 50% success rate.

Deputy County Magistrate Lai Hsiang-ling attended the event to encourage young people to build connections. To support marriage and child-rearing, the county government is implementing several policies, including increasing fertility subsidies to 50,000 TWD for the second child and subsequent children starting in 2027. Additionally, the government has reduced childcare costs at public-private nurseries, with parents now paying only 100 TWD per hour while the county covers the remaining 200 TWD difference.
