Miaoli County updates governance plans and school meal policies
In Miaoli County, political and administrative developments are unfolding. County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin recently presided over a county affairs meeting, where he issued directives to ensure the quality and diversity of free school lunches for the upcoming academic year. He emphasized the need for strict food safety management and traceability to protect student health.
Additionally, the meeting addressed various local issues, including the implementation of a new reservation system for rehabilitation buses, planned renovations for the Zhunan Sports Park track, and disaster relief for farmers in Tongluo whose chrysanthemum crops were damaged by heavy rain and typhoons. The county government is also working to increase subsidies to mitigate agricultural losses.
Separately, Chen Pin-an, a candidate for Miaoli County Magistrate, has unveiled her ‘Happy Miaoli 345’ governance blueprint. Her platform focuses on three guarantees, four pillars, and five shared benefits, targeting challenges such as fiscal structure, population outflow, and industrial transformation. Her proposals include exempting seniors aged 65 and older from health insurance co-payments and providing maternity subsidies of up to 100,000 TWD.
