Mibex workers in Somma Vesuviana announce strike
Workers at the Mibex plant in Somma Vesuviana have called for an eight-hour strike on Wednesday, November 4, to protest the company's uncertain future. The mobilization, organized by company RSU and the Fiom, Uilm, and Uglm unions, includes a demonstration in front of the Campania Region headquarters.
Union representatives state the company has reached a “point of no return” due to a lack of significant orders and the exhaustion of current production tasks. According to union notes, the CEO confirmed an absence of major contracts capable of maintaining full plant capacity. Current work is expected to conclude by November 10, making the use of social safety nets (ammortizzatori sociali) inevitable for the 59 employees involved.
The unions have criticized management for a lack of diversification in production activities and are demanding immediate, transparent meetings to discuss strategies for job preservation.
