Iara Duprat found alive in Paso de los Libres, Alerta Sofía lifted
A 17‑year‑old teenager, Iara Ayelén Duprat, disappeared on 24 July 2026 in Curuzú Cuatiá, Corrientes. The National Ministry of Security activated the Alerta Sofía protocol and disseminated her physical description – about 1.55 m tall, white‑skinned, short black‑bluish hair, green eyes and three distinctive tattoos – while urging the public to call the free, anonymous tip line 134.
Investigators traced the signal from Iara’s mobile phone to an antenna in Paso de los Libres, a border city on Route 117. After more than 48 hours of coordinated searches by provincial and federal police, she was located alive and in good health on 26 July 2026. The operation also led to the detention of 32‑year‑old truck driver Agustín Romero, accused of illegal deprivation of liberty for allegedly holding the teenager inside his vehicle for over a day. Following her safe recovery, the Alerta Sofía alert was deactivated.
The case involved the Corrientes provincial police, the National Ministry of Security, the Dirección de Asistencia Judicial en Delitos Complejos y Crimen Organizado (DAJUDECO) and local law‑enforcement units, which together coordinated road checks, phone‑signal analysis and a large‑scale search effort.
