MICAM Milano 2026 to focus on innovation amid Italian footwear industry decline
The MICAM Milano international footwear exhibition is scheduled to take place from September 13 to 15, 2026, at Fiera Milano Rho. Under the campaign ‘SHOES FIRST’, the event aims to position footwear as a synthesis of design, craftsmanship, and innovation, particularly emphasizing the ‘Made in Italy’ brand.
The exhibition arrives during a challenging period for the Italian footwear sector. According to Assocalzaturifici, the industry saw a turnover of 12.8 billion euros in 2025, a 2.8% decrease from the previous year, while exports fell by 1.1% to 11.5 billion euros. The first three months of 2026 also showed a turnover decline of 2.7%.
Beyond showcasing collections, MICAM serves as a platform for the industry to address market shifts and explore international opportunities. The event will feature a redesigned layout focusing on the relationship between production, design, sustainability, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.
