Medical crises in Poland: glioma treatment costs and pregnancy loss investigation

Two separate medical tragedies in Poland have drawn attention to healthcare challenges and professional conduct.

A 36-year-old man named Michał is fighting a WHO grade II glioma. Following a complex tumor removal surgery, his family is seeking funds for specialized neurological rehabilitation and proton beam therapy at the WPE center in Essen, Germany. The estimated cost for the therapy cycle is approximately 100,000 euros, prompting a public fundraising campaign to cover treatment and specialist consultations.

In a separate incident, a woman named Joanna Przybylska lost her daughter at 22 weeks of pregnancy. The parents, Joanna and Michał Karpacz, allege that medical staff failed to provide life-saving care. The mother claims a doctor stated that such children are not saved and requested not to be disturbed due to an upcoming shift end. The circumstances surrounding the stillbirth are currently under investigation by the prosecutor's office.
