Kraków mayoral candidate Michał Klimek cuts down Clean Transport Zone sign

Michał Klimek, a candidate for Mayor of Kraków representing Konfederacja Korony Polskiej, staged a political happening involving the symbolic removal of a Clean Transport Zone (SCT) sign. Accompanied by Grzegorz Braun, Klimek used an electric saw to cut down a signpost in the Nowa Huta district.

Following the incident, the Małopolska Police investigated whether road infrastructure had been damaged. Authorities determined that the sign was not part of the official municipal road infrastructure but was likely a prop prepared specifically for the political demonstration, as it had been attached to railings using plastic cable ties.

Klimek and Braun framed the action as a protest against the SCT, which they described as a tool of exclusion and “pure absurdity.” Klimek pledged that if elected, he would personally abolish the zone. The event has drawn significant attention on social media as part of the ongoing mayoral campaign in Kraków.
