Michał Materla considers competing in Paralympic triathlon

Michał Materla, a prominent figure in Polish mixed martial arts and former KSW champion, is reportedly considering a transition to Paralympic triathlon. His manager and brother, Norbert Sawicki, revealed the potential plan in an interview, stating they are discussing the possibility of Materla competing for a medal.

Sawicki noted that Materla practiced swimming and triathlon during his youth. To compete in paratriathlon, an athlete must undergo official classification based on a qualifying disability. Sawicki suggested that Materla might meet these criteria due to existing issues with his leg, which could place him in one of the standing competition categories defined by World Triathlon.

While Materla's next MMA bout remains unconfirmed following his victory over Christian Jungwirth in Oktagon MMA, his management indicates that this new sporting ambition does not necessarily signal the end of his professional fighting career.
