Michał Wiśniewski faces new legal challenge as prosecutors appeal acquittal

The District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw-Praga has filed a cassation with the Supreme Court seeking to overturn the acquittal of singer Michał Wiśniewski. The legal battle concerns a 2.8 million PLN loan taken from SKOK Wołomin in 2006.

In May 2026, the Court of Appeal in Warsaw issued a final ruling acquitting the Ich Troje leader, overturning a previous lower court decision that had sentenced him to 18 months in prison and an 80,000 PLN fine. Prosecutors allege that Wiśniewski provided unreliable income information to secure the financing, claiming monthly earnings of 125,000 PLN that were not verified by tax or social security records.

The prosecution argues that the Court of Appeal violated principles of free evidence assessment by being one-sided and ignoring logical inconsistencies. They claim the singer was aware of his existing debts at the time and that the loan funds were used for personal needs rather than the declared investment purposes.
