Michael Arroyo promoted to Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners have promoted top hitting prospect Michael Arroyo from Triple-A Tacoma to the Major League roster. The 21-year-old is expected to make his debut against the Athletics, playing second base and batting eighth in the lineup.

To accommodate Arroyo, the Mariners optioned infielder Patrick Wisdom to Triple-A Tacoma and transferred pitcher Nick Davila to the 60-day injured list due to an SC joint sprain. Arroyo, who is ranked as the organization’s No. 3 overall prospect, has demonstrated significant offensive production across Double-A and Triple-A, recording 18 home runs and 81 RBIs this season.

Arroyo’s promotion follows recent call-ups of other high-end prospects, including outfielder Lazaro Montes and pitcher Kade Anderson, as the Mariners pivot toward younger talent for the final stretch of the season.
