Michael Bandt launches ‘Freiheits-Architektur®’ to reduce owner dependence in German craft firms
Michael Bandt, founder of Unternehmer‑Helden, announced a shift from traditional consulting to a model aimed at decreasing the reliance of small and medium‑sized craft businesses on their owners. The new approach, called Freiheits‑Architektur®, restructures leadership, decision‑making, processes and knowledge management so that operations can continue without the owner’s constant presence. Bandt stresses that the goal is not to withdraw from the company but to allow owners to choose when and how they work, improving flexibility while maintaining business performance.
The concept is illustrated with a “four‑week test” that reveals hidden owner dependencies. Bandt, drawing on four decades of experience and over 350 client engagements, argues that growth alone does not solve owner reliance; systematic architectural changes are required. The initiative targets German craft enterprises that, despite full order books and strong teams, remain centered around the owner for approvals and client contacts.
