Michael Blackson launches school tour to combat bullying

Comedian Michael Blackson has begun a tour of American high schools to speak with students about bullying and safety. The initiative follows the death of 15-year-old Javits Frimpong, a Ghanaian student who was killed in the Bronx on October 29, 2026, while on his way to school.

Blackson, a Ghanaian-American, shared that the tragedy prompted him to reflect on his own childhood experiences. He recounted being bullied and physically attacked as a teenager at Broadway Junior High School in Newark, New Jersey, noting that the hostility was often linked to being the only African student at the school.

The outreach program aims to support young people, particularly those from immigrant backgrounds, by encouraging them to stand against harassment and seek help. Blackson’s first visit took place at his alma mater, John Bartram High School in Philadelphia.
