Michael Bloomberg donates $80 million to Democratic midterm efforts
Michael Bloomberg has contributed approximately $80 million to support Democratic candidates and causes during the final weeks of the midterm election cycle. The funding is primarily aimed at helping Democrats regain control of the House of Representatives.
According to reports, the allocation includes $50 million directed toward House races, with $24 million going to Everytown for Gun Safety and $16 million to the House Majority PAC. Additional funds include $8 million for gubernatorial candidates in battleground states, $5 million for pro-environment groups, and $2.5 million to a super PAC supporting James Talarico in Texas.
Bloomberg’s political adviser, Howard Wolfson, stated that the billionaire believes resources are critical in campaigns. This surge follows previous donations of at least $23 million earlier this season. The move comes amid significant spending from Republican sources, including commitments from Donald Trump to spend over $400 million to support Republican candidates.
