Michael Carrick discusses Manchester United victory and job pressure

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has praised the atmosphere at Old Trafford following a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League. After trailing by two goals in the first half, Manchester United secured the win through a Bruno Fernandes penalty and two goals from Matheus Cunha.

Carrick noted that the support from fans provided essential energy during difficult moments of the match. He remarked, “This place does extraordinary things. There is magic here and we talked about it at the halftime break.”

Despite the victory, Carrick faces scrutiny regarding his position at the club. Reports indicate that his role at Manchester United is under pressure as clubs across Europe's top five leagues, particularly in Serie A, have shown low tolerance for managers failing to meet expectations during the 2026/2027 season.
