Manchester United manager Michael Carrick defends Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes will remain the club captain despite recent tensions. The decision follows a period of scrutiny after the team suffered a 0:3 defeat against Bournemouth and a previous Champions League loss to Como.
Speaking at a press conference, Carrick addressed the decision to leave Fernandes on the bench during the recent match against Bournemouth. He stated that the Portuguese playmaker is “fully committed to this football club” and that there is no decision to be made regarding his captaincy. Carrick emphasized that Fernandes remains an important player for the group.
Regarding his own position at the club, Carrick stated he does not require assurances from management about his future. He noted that his primary focus is preparing for the upcoming match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and remains attentive to the perceptions of the fans rather than media speculation.
