Currently 59 years old, Cole expressed a desire to continue his career until approximately age 65, aiming to retire while still performing at a high level. He has reportedly discussed his long-term plans with WWE head Paul Levesque and other executives, noting that he seeks honest feedback to ensure his performance does not decline before he decides to step away.

Regarding his recent absence from WWE SmackDown, reports indicate that Cole is currently on vacation. During his time away, Vic Joseph and Corey Graves handled the commentary duties. Cole remains under a multi-year contract and is expected to return to his regular broadcasting schedule shortly.
