Michael Douglas appointed honorary ambassador of Mallorca
Hollywood actor Michael Douglas, 81, was honored on 3‑5 August 2026 in Valldemossa, Spain, as one of the inaugural “Terra d’Honor” ambassadors of Mallorca. The island’s council recognized his three‑decade‑long promotion of Mallorca’s cultural heritage and tourism, citing his ownership of the historic S’Estaca estate since 1989.
Douglas attended the ceremony at the Costa Nord cultural centre with his 23‑year‑old daughter, Carys Zeta Douglas. Carys, who recently made her professional stage debut in New York and graduated from Brown University, spoke to reporters in fluent Spanish, describing Mallorca as “our favourite place in the world.” The event also honoured other figures such as art consultant Rosario Nadal and actress Norma Duval.
The award highlights the Douglas family’s long‑standing ties to the Balearic island, which they consider a second home and where they spend their summer holidays.
