Michael Douglas says Marvel refused his request to kill off Hank Pym

Actor Michael Douglas revealed in a recent interview on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast that he requested to have his Marvel Cinematic Universe character, Hank Pym, killed off after the second ‘Ant-Man’ film. However, he stated that the studio would not allow him to exit the franchise at that time.

Douglas, who portrays the original Ant-Man, explained that his initial interest in joining the superhero franchise was driven by a desire to experience filming with green-screen technology. While he praised his co-star Paul Rudd and the production teams, he noted the difficulty of leaving a major franchise once committed to a contract.

Since his debut in 2015, Douglas has appeared in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ (2018), ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019), and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ (2023), as well as the animated series ‘What If...?’.
