Michael Douglas reveals secret romance with Kathleen Turner
Actor Michael Douglas has revealed in his upcoming memoirs, ‘One Helluva Ride’, that he had a secret romantic relationship with co-star Kathleen Turner during the 1984 filming of ‘Romancing the Stone’ in Mexico.
Douglas, 82, admitted that while the two had long maintained a public narrative that they only shared professional chemistry, that account was a “lie” intended to protect his wife at the time, Diandra Douglas, and their son, Cameron. Although Douglas was living separately from Diandra during production, he was still legally married.
The relationship reportedly ended after Diandra visited the film set and made it clear to Turner that Douglas was still married. Turner subsequently chose to withdraw to avoid interfering with the marriage. Despite the secret affair, the two actors continued to work together on several projects over the following decades, including ‘The Jewel of the Nile’ and ‘The War of the Roses’.
Kathleen Turner responded to the revelation with humor, expressing surprise at the renewed attention given to an event from 40 years ago, while noting her affection for Douglas and her interest in reading his new book.
