Jack Nicholson: Michael Douglas provides update on actor's retirement
Actor Michael Douglas has provided insight into the current life of Jack Nicholson, confirming that the 89-year-old Hollywood legend is no longer working in the film industry. Speaking during a recent event in the United Kingdom to promote his memoirs, “One Helluva Ride”, Douglas stated, “He is not working anymore. He is well. He has disappeared. I know that.”
Nicholson, a three-time Oscar winner known for iconic roles in “The Shining” and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, has maintained a highly private life for many years. His last film appearance was in 2010 for “How Do You Know”. While he has not officially announced a retirement, his absence from the screen has led to various speculations regarding his health and well-being.
Douglas, who worked with Nicholson as a producer on “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, reassured the public that Nicholson is doing well. He described the actor as spending time at his home in Beverly Hills, noting, “I still see him, but he is fine. He is up there by his house and walking around in his slippers.”
Despite occasional rare appearances, such as the “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary special in 2025, Nicholson has largely retreated from public life and social contact, choosing to remain in his residence.
