New York Rangers sign goaltender Dylan Garand to two‑year extension

New York Rangers have signed 24‑year‑old goaltender Dylan Garand to a two‑year contract extension. The deal includes a first‑year two‑way contract at the league‑minimum $850,000 and a second‑year one‑way salary of $900,000. Garand, a former WHL standout who made his NHL debut in the 2025‑26 season, appeared in three games posting a 2‑0‑1 record, a 1.62 goals‑against average and a .948 save percentage. He became the first Rangers rookie goalie since Henrik Lundqvist to record a point in each of his first three appearances. The extension comes as veteran net‑minder Jonathan Quick has retired, opening a potential full‑time NHL role for Garand.

Garand spent most of the season with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack and was drafted by New York in the fourth round, 103rd overall, in 2020. He is now viewed as the front‑runner for the Rangers’ backup goaltending position ahead of the 2026‑27 season.
