In a recent social media video, Fishman responded to fans who claim the cancellation was a result of political correctness or ‘woke’ culture.

Fishman characterized these claims as ‘ignorant and inaccurate,’ arguing that they use a ‘political smokescreen to justify the indefensible.’ He noted that the cancellation followed Roseanne Barr’s use of a racist trope regarding former President Barack Obama’s advisor, Valerie Jarrett. Fishman emphasized that Barr herself had previously described her comments as ‘indefensible’ and warned that dehumanizing language can lead to real-world consequences.
