Michael Jackson ‘Beat It’ short film to have first theatrical screening
To commemorate Michael Jackson's birthday on August 29, the short film for the song ‘Beat It’ will receive its first-ever theatrical screening. The 4K remastered DCP version will be shown following the main feature of the film ‘Michael’ at 390 movie theaters across Japan from August 28 to September 17.
Released in 1983, ‘Beat It’ is a landmark musical work featuring a message of non-violence against gang conflict. The short film is noted for its innovative dance performances and its use of real street gangs to create a cinematic atmosphere. The screening will not require an additional fee and will not be available in IMAX.
The biopic ‘Michael’ has seen significant commercial success, surpassing 5 million admissions and 8 billion yen in box office revenue as of August 16.
