Michael Jackson biopic “Michael” released in Japan

The Japanese‑produced biographical film “Michael” chronicles the rise of Michael Jackson from his childhood in Indiana, his time with the Jackson 5, and his evolution into a global pop icon. The movie depicts key moments such as the family’s early performances, Jackson’s solo breakthrough with “Off the Wall,” the success of “Thriller” and “Bad,” and his relationships with his father Joseph and mother Katherine. 9‑year‑old Julian Cruz Valdi plays the young Michael, while Jeff Jackson, the son of Michael’s brother, portrays his nephew. The film also includes recreations of iconic music videos and concert tours, and a soundtrack featuring 13 of Jackson’s hits. Directed by Antoine Fouca, the picture is now in nationwide theaters across Japan, with a limited‑edition original soundtrack released by Sony Music.
