Jaafar Jackson says ‘Michael 2’ will address Michael Jackson abuse allegations

Jaafar Jackson, the actor portraying his late uncle Michael Jackson in the billion-dollar biopic ‘Michael’, has revealed that the upcoming sequel, ‘Michael 2’, intends to address the child sexual abuse allegations that marked the singer’s later years.

In an interview with GQ Middle East, Jaafar Jackson stated that the sequel aims to provide a perspective from the singer himself, noting that “the voice of Michael” has not been sufficiently heard. He suggested that previous accounts of the allegations have primarily been told from the viewpoint of others and are often driven by specific agendas.

The first film, directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Lionsgate, concluded its narrative in 1987 following the release of the “Bad” music video, thereby omitting the controversial legal battles of the 1990s and early 2000s. While Fuqua previously noted that some scenes regarding the allegations were originally considered, they were removed to focus on Jackson’s rise to stardom.

The sequel is currently in development, with production expected to begin in late 2026 and a potential release in late 2027 or early 2028. The project continues with the participation of the Jackson estate.
