Michael Jackson sexual abuse trial rescheduled to Feb 2028

A California judge, Michael E. Whitaker, set a new trial date of February 14, 2028 for the sexual‑abuse lawsuits filed by James Safechuck and Wade Robson against the late Michael Jackson’s estate. The plaintiffs and defendants agreed to waive existing deadlines, citing scheduling conflicts and limited availability of the discovery referee, and the judge also ordered a follow‑up hearing in September to keep the case on schedule.

The lawsuits target Jackson’s corporate entities, MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures, alleging negligence and a duty‑to‑protect victims despite the companies being solely owned by the alleged abuser. An appellate court in 2024 allowed the two cases, originally filed in 2013 and 2014, to be consolidated. The Jackson estate continues to deny all allegations; Jackson was previously acquitted of criminal charges in a 2005 trial. The rescheduling pushes the civil case well beyond the previously expected October 2027 window.
