Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' jacket to be auctioned in Abu Dhabi

Julien's Auctions has announced the ‘Michael Jackson: The Fashion Legacy Auction,’ scheduled to take place from December 7 to 9 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The auction features several iconic pieces of memorabilia from the late pop star, most notably the red and black calfskin leather jacket worn in the 1983 ‘Thriller’ music video. Designed by Deborah Landis, the jacket is estimated to sell for upwards of $10 million, potentially setting a new record for music memorabilia.

Other significant items include the sequined glove worn by Jackson during his 1983 ‘Moonwalk’ performance at the Motown 25 special, which has an estimated value of up to $800,000. The auction also includes two pairs of black leather shoes: one pair used during the ‘Moonwalk’ performance and another pair from the ‘Thriller’ video.

Prior to the auction in Abu Dhabi, these items are scheduled to go on a global tour, with exhibitions planned in the United States, Japan, and Bahrain.
