Michael Johnson addresses Grand Slam Track bankruptcy and athlete payments
Four-time Olympic champion Michael Johnson has addressed the financial collapse of Grand Slam Track (GST), stating that athletes owed money following the league's December 2025 bankruptcy filing have now been paid.
The track and field league, which launched in 2024, faced severe capital issues after investors withdrew, leading to the cancellation of its June 2025 Los Angeles season finale and the indefinite suspension of the 2026 season. According to the Association of Athletics Managers, the league accumulated debts exceeding $30 million.
