Michael Jordan donates $10 million to UNC School of Social Work
Michael Jordan has committed $10 million to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Social Work. The donation, the largest in the school’s history, honors his mother, Deloris P. Jordan.
The funds will expand the Global Social Development Innovations Center, which will be renamed the Deloris P. Jordan Global Social Development Innovations Center. The gift also supports the Jordan Institute for Families and the establishment of the Jordan Family Scholars program, providing financial assistance to Master of Social Work students.
Additionally, the donation will fund a new global research symposium focused on youth development and social work innovations, featuring participants from over 20 countries. Jordan, a former Tar Heels player, stated the gift is a meaningful way to honor his mother’s lifelong commitment to helping children, families, and communities.
