Michael Jordan donates $17 million for North Carolina medical clinics
Michael Jordan has donated more than $17 million to fund the construction and operation of four medical clinics in North Carolina. Managed by Novant Health, these facilities are designed to provide primary and preventive care to vulnerable populations facing barriers to healthcare access.
The initiative began in 2017 with a $7 million donation to establish two clinics in Charlotte, which opened between 2019 and 2020. These centers include 12 consultation rooms, X-ray facilities, and physiotherapy spaces, serving over 4,500 patients in their first two years of operation.
In 2021, Jordan contributed an additional $10 million to expand the project to Wilmington, the city where he spent much of his childhood. The third clinic opened in May 2024, and a fourth facility was inaugurated in February 2025. These Wilmington locations offer services to both insured and uninsured patients, ranging from pediatric to geriatric care, and include mental health support, food assistance, and housing guidance.
