Michael Jordan jersey sells for $12.3 million at auction

A Michael Jordan game-worn jersey from Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals has sold at auction for $12.3 million, setting a new record for any piece of Jordan memorabilia. The sale was conducted through Joopiter, a digital auction house founded by Pharrell Williams.

The jersey was worn during the Chicago Bulls’ championship run in what is often referred to as “The Last Dance,” a series in which the Bulls defeated the Utah Jazz 4-2 to secure Jordan’s sixth and final NBA title. This specific jersey surpassed the previous record held by Jordan’s Game 1 jersey from the same 1998 series, which had previously sold for $10.1 million.

In addition to the jersey, the auction featured a 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello formerly owned by Jordan, which sold for $2.7 million. The jersey sale ranks as the second most expensive sports jersey sale in history, trailing only a Babe Ruth jersey that sold for $24.12 million.
