Michael Jordan jersey sells for record $12.3 million

A Michael Jordan jersey worn during Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals has sold for a record-breaking $12.26 million to $12.3 million. The garment was part of Jordan’s final season with the Chicago Bulls, a period often referred to as the ‘Last Dance’.

Sold via Joopiter, the digital auction house associated with Pharrell Williams, the piece surpassed the previous record for Jordan memorabilia, which was $10.1 million for a jersey from Game 1 of the same series. The 1998 Finals saw the Bulls defeat the Utah Jazz 4-2, securing Jordan’s sixth NBA championship and his sixth Finals MVP award.

In the broader context of sports memorabilia, the sale stands as one of the most significant for basketball, though it remains below the $24.1 million record set by a Babe Ruth jersey in 2024.
