Michael Jordan jersey sells for record $14 million

A game-worn, autographed Michael Jordan road jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals has sold in a private transaction for $14 million. The sale, facilitated by Pennsylvania-based Hunt Auctions, sets a new record for basketball memorabilia.

Ron Firman, a Miami real estate investor, purchased the red jersey worn by Jordan during Game 2 of the 1998 series. In that game, Jordan scored 37 points to help the Chicago Bulls defeat the Utah Jazz, eventually leading the team to their sixth NBA championship.

David Hunt, president of Hunt Auctions, stated that Jordan’s memorabilia has transitioned into an elite asset class comparable to iconic works of art. This $14 million figure is the second-highest known price for a game-worn jersey, trailing only a $24.12 million Babe Ruth jersey sold in 2024. It follows other recent high-value sales, including a Game 3 jersey from the same 1998 series that fetched $12.3 million last month.
