Michael Jordan to part ways with NBC following brief NBA contributor role

Michael Jordan is reportedly parting ways with NBC following a highly anticipated but brief tenure as a ‘special contributor’ for the network’s NBA coverage. Jordan had originally signed a contract valued at $40 million per year in May 2025 to provide high-level analysis and commentary.

Reports indicate that the partnership yielded minimal content, with Jordan reportedly filming only one interview that was subsequently divided into several short segments. Critics and media analysts have characterized the arrangement as a missed opportunity, suggesting the network lacked a cohesive plan to utilize Jordan’s presence effectively despite the significant financial investment.

While NBC Sports President Rick Cordella previously expressed optimism about Jordan sharing his unique perspectives on the game, the collaboration appears to have concluded without a return for the 2027 season.
