Michael Kausch reflects on career and life-altering 1990 accident

Actor Michael Kausch, known for his roles in the 1980s television series 'Liebling Kreuzberg' and 'Schwarzwaldklinik', is reflecting on his career and a life-altering accident.

Kausch played lawyer Giselmund Arnold in 'Liebling Kreuzberg' from 1986 to 1990, working alongside Manfred Krug. He also appeared as Dr. Engel in the ZDF series 'Schwarzwaldklinik' between 1986 and 1988.

On January 19, 1990, Kausch suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and fell into a coma for one week after falling approximately 15 meters through an open window during a workshop in Wedding. The accident required him to relearn walking and speaking, and he spent months in a wheelchair.

While new episodes of 'Kanzlei Liebling Kreuzberg' are set to air on ARD on October 16, the 77-year-old Kausch will not be part of the new production.
