Michael Keaton to direct and star in Western ‘Rode to Ruin’ with Morgan Freeman
Michael Keaton is set to direct and star in the upcoming Western thriller ‘Rode to Ruin’, written by R. Dean McCreary. The film will also star Morgan Freeman, marking the first time the two actors have shared the screen since 1988’s ‘Clean and Sober’.
Keaton will portray Henry Tillman, a retired U.S. Marshal, while Freeman will play Joseph Mulberry, an outlaw. The plot follows Tillman’s 40-year pursuit of Mulberry following the death of Tillman’s wife. As the search concludes, the story focuses on an aging Mulberry who is suffering from memory loss and a buried truth that threatens both men.
Keaton described the project as a layered story that transcends the traditional Western genre, focusing on themes of forgiveness, revenge, and redemption.
