Michael Malone announces UNC basketball coaching staff

North Carolina men's basketball head coach Michael Malone has announced his complete coaching staff for the 2026-27 season. The staff includes returning members Sean May, Pat Sullivan, Jim Tanner, and Eric Hoots. New additions to the staff are Chuck Martin, Bryan Tibaldi, and Jorge Sanz. Former Tar Heel players Brandon Robinson and Deon Thompson will also join the staff.

Reflecting on his transition from the NBA to college basketball, Malone noted the fundamental differences in the roles. He stated that while the NBA focuses primarily on basketball, college coaching involves many responsibilities beyond the court, such as managing student-athlete classes and intensive recruiting efforts.
