Michael Mann film updates: Adam Driver joins Heat 2 cast

Director Michael Mann is advancing several film projects. Actor Stephen Graham has confirmed that Adam Driver will join the cast of “Heat 2”, the highly anticipated prequel and sequel to the film “Heat”. Driver is rumored to play Otis Wardell, a violent antagonist based in Chicago who serves as a link between the different eras of the story. Production for “Heat 2” is expected to begin in November, with Graham traveling to Los Angeles soon for preparation.

Additionally, a new home-video release for Mann’s “Miami Vice” has been announced. Titled “The Director’s Final Cut”, the five-disc 4K UHD and Blu-ray Collector’s Edition is scheduled for release on December 15, 2026. This version features significant changes to editing, visuals, sound, and the ending, incorporating previously unused footage to create a 133-minute runtime. The new cut is set to debut at Beyond Fest in October 2026.
