Michael McDonald identified as biological father of musician via DNA test

Michael Goessling, a 59-year-old musician, discovered through genetic testing that his biological father is Michael McDonald, the legendary five-time Grammy winner and vocalist for The Doobie Brothers.

The connection stems from a teenage relationship in the 1960s between McDonald and a woman identified as Diane. Both were 14 years old at the time of the pregnancy. Although they initially considered raising the child, family pressure led to the decision to place the baby for adoption through Catholic Charities.

Goessling was raised in Missouri by his adoptive parents, Paul and Kay Goessling. The revelation came to light approximately one year ago after Goessling utilized the 23andMe platform to investigate potential hereditary health risks.
