Michael McDonald reunites with biological son Michael Goessling

Michael Goessling, age 58, has discovered that Grammy-winning singer Michael McDonald is his biological father. The revelation came after a DNA match through 23andMe involving a half-brother Goessling did not know existed.

Goessling was raised in St. Louis by his adoptive parents, Paul and Kay Goessling. Despite being a lifelong fan of The Doobie Brothers and having attended McDonald’s concerts in the past, he was unaware of their biological connection. The discovery was facilitated by Goessling’s half-brother, who used genetic testing to locate him.

McDonald and Goessling’s birth mother were approximately 14 years old when they decided to place the child for adoption. Following the DNA match, the two men connected via telephone while McDonald was on tour and have since met in person.
