Stanbic Bank Kenya has appointed Michael Mutiga as its new Chief Executive Officer following approval from the Central Bank of Kenya. Mutiga succeeds Abraham Ongenge, who had been serving in an acting capacity.

His previous roles include serving as the Chief Business Development and Strategy Officer at Safaricom PLC, Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance for Sub-Saharan Africa at Citibank, and senior positions at Absa.
The appointment follows a period of financial growth for the lender. Board Chairman Joe Muganda stated that Mutiga’s expertise in investment banking and telecommunications uniquely positions him to drive sustainable growth and digital transformation.
