Michael Olise: Matthäus urges Bayern to extend contract
Following Michael Olise’s red card during FC Bayern München’s 3–3 draw against Viking Stavanger, former player Lothar Matthäus has advised the club to secure the Frenchman’s future by extending his contract. Matthäus suggested that even if the club pays an additional ten million euros, it would be a sound investment to protect his transfer value, noting that Olise is a “difference-maker” who brings significant value to the pitch.
Meanwhile, Dietmar Hamann has criticized the club’s internal reaction to the disciplinary incident. While acknowledging that the sending-off was unacceptable, Hamann expressed concern over public criticism from manager Vincent Kompany and certain teammates. Hamann suggested that some players might be looking for reasons to criticize Olise and voiced concern regarding Bayern’s heavy tactical dependence on the attacker, noting the team appeared lost after his dismissal.
