Michael Robbins to lead Semiconductor Industry Association after AUVSI exit

Michael Robbins, the President and CEO of the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), will depart the organization on September 30 to become the President and CEO of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) on October 1.

AUVSI has appointed Chief Operating Officer Heather Lee as Acting President and CEO, effective October 1, while the Board of Directors conducts a search for a permanent successor. During his tenure at AUVSI, Robbins focused on expanding the association’s advocacy in Washington, including testifying before Congress and supporting the development of a U.S.-based drone ecosystem.

Robbins had previously advocated for a federal industrial policy for the drone industry modeled after the CHIPS Act. His transition comes amid a regulatory environment that has seen increased restrictions on foreign-made drones and components in the United States.
