Michael Saylor defines Bitcoin as digital capital and energy

Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy Inc., has proposed a thesis describing Bitcoin as ‘digital capital’ and ‘digital energy.’ He argues the asset has evolved from a peer-to-peer payment network into a broader financial tool capable of converting economic energy into a secure, digital form that can be controlled by individuals, companies, and governments.

Saylor suggests Bitcoin can integrate with existing capital markets, including equity, debt, and credit markets, without requiring changes to its underlying protocol. He maintains that institutional products like exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and professional custody services broaden access and do not undermine the network’s core principles.

Strategy Inc. continues to maintain a significant Bitcoin treasury, holding approximately 840,447 BTC. The company has implemented a ‘Digital Credit Capital Framework’ to manage its reserves, which includes policies for USD reserves, dividend adjustments, and authorized repurchases of preferred and common stock. As of recent reports, the company’s Bitcoin holdings represent roughly 4% of the total maximum supply.
