Michael Saylor proposes Bitcoin-backed digital dollar model
Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of MicroStrategy, has outlined a new financial model aimed at evolving Bitcoin from a digital asset into a broader financial architecture. The concept involves a progression from Bitcoin as ‘Digital Capital’ to ‘Digital Credit’ and ultimately to ‘Digital Money’.
Saylor envisions a digital product pegged to the US dollar that could offer approximately 7 percent yield while maintaining low volatility. This ‘Digital Money’ would combine a stable value with daily liquidity and digital transferability. To facilitate this, the strategy utilizes securities such as variable-rate preferred stock to act as ‘Digital Credit’ components.
While proposing a stable value, Saylor cautioned that stability does not equate to risk-free investment. He noted that risks would be managed through reserves, liquidity, and credit structures rather than being eliminated entirely. MicroStrategy currently holds a total of 847,666 Bitcoin.
