Michael Saylor's 'What’s Next?' Post Fuels Bitcoin Market Speculation

Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted his characteristic “Orange Dots” chart on X on July 19, captioned “What’s next?”. The cryptic message sparked immediate speculation among investors about Strategy’s next move – whether the company will resume buying Bitcoin, hold its existing reserve, or sell more.

Strategy’s treasury still contains 843,775 BTC, bought for roughly $63.7 billion at an average price of $75,476 per coin. The firm reported no Bitcoin purchases in the week ending July 12 and disclosed a sale of about 3,588 BTC (≈$216 million) earlier in July to fund dividend payments on its preferred shares. In the same period it sold 4.82 million Class A MSTR shares, raising about $466.7 million, and retains roughly $3 billion in cash for dividend and debt obligations.

Saylor has also used the occasion to reiterate that corporate Bitcoin adoption is “necessary, inevitable and welcome”, arguing that companies provide the legal and operational framework needed for Bitcoin to become a global monetary network. Public companies now hold over 1.2 million BTC, valued at about $80 billion, underscoring the growing institutional stake in the cryptocurrency.
